Audience: is your tone appropriate for your purpose?

For this writing assignment, you will write a paper in which you analyze a visual piece of art that tells a story. That piece of art can be a movie, TV show, Youtube Video, or any other visual media. You are not writing about if you think the work is good or bad. Instead, you should identify a major theme or idea that the artist is using in their work, and find examples throughout the work to support your claim. You should also make it clear which appeal (Logos, Ethos, Pathos) is being used and how you know.
My suggestion is to choose a movie, because it will be much easier to analyze with the time allotted. If you choose to write about something else, please clear it with me first.
The best way to structure your paper:
Introduction—Identify the theme that you will be examining about your subject. Consider why this is important to the overall story? Why is this theme a part of the story? What does it add?
Body paragraphs—Find at least three specifically different ways this theme shows up in your work. These will be the subjects of your paragraphs. Support each subject with multiple instances from the piece of art. Also, use what other’s have written to support you claims.
Conclusion—Make it very clear as to why the artist included your theme in their work. What does it ultimately mean?
Remember to brainstorm for this (first step in the writing process). Make sure you have a nice, small focus for this paper—you will probably have to narrow down your topic a bit. Some examples might be:
If you’re writing about a movie, you’ll have more to pull from. Visuals, sound, dialogue. Everything is fair game in analysis. Find the larger/broader theme and then examine how the director uses more specific sub-themes for support.
will grade this paper on the following:
Structure: How well is the paper structured? Does it make logical sense? Does each paragraph have a purpose?
Substance/Content: How well developed is this paper? Do you develop your ideas clearly and go beyond the obvious? Do you develop the details in your writing? Do you make is clear which appeal(s) is/are being used in you source material and why?
Audience: Is your tone appropriate for your purpose? Please use third person point of view.
Grammar/Mechanics: There should not be any errors—or very few. Take care with your work. Use MLA formatting. We have covered MLA extensively in class. This must be done correctly or it will be considered plagiarism.
At least 3 sources done in MLA formatting. I’m looking for 1 primary source (movie) and 2 secondary sources (articles/reviews).
Times New Roman Font/ 12 pt./ double spaced
To be clear, THIS PAPER IS NOT A SUMMARY OR BOOK REPORT STYLE ESSAY!!!! You will analyze a film, figure out what the director is trying to get across and 3 ways they do that, and prove it to me with PROOF.

Note: do not use the “notes” section for citation or adding details to help the audience understand.

A clear argument for change in your community (the one you have been writing about throughout the course).
Designed with a specific audience in mind to motivate your viewers to take action or change how they think about the topic.
Slide presentation or video format (contact your instructor for prior approval if you have a different idea for your digital media presentation).
Contains at least 8 slides (slide presentation, not including the title and references slide) or lasts approximately 1–2 minutes (video).
Research from at least four reliable sources to support the main message, including graphics. These can be sources from previous units.
Minimally, two information-oriented visuals like a chart, diagram, or infographic (e.g., photo, table, diagram, chart, etc.) to represent key information in your argument.
Relevant clip art, stock photos, and design templates that are visually engaging and reinforce the overall theme of the presentation.
Research and visuals are cited in APA citation format, both in-text and on a references slide or in a separate Word document if you create a video. You need to quote material taken directly from a source. The same standards for documenting sources apply to a presentation that apply to an essay.
Note: Do not use the “Notes” section for citation or adding details to help the audience understand. The presentation needs to be clear based on what the audience can see and “Notes” are meant only for the speaker. Your instructor will not review the “Notes” section if you use PowerPoint.
Images that require attribution should have an APA formatted in-text citation and APA formatted reference entry. If using images from a Creative Commons site like Unsplash, please provide the website logo with images that are freely available so that your instructor knows they do not require an APA reference entry.

This is.

Hello, first, I want to clarify that the two assignments are unrelated. They’re two different assignments. I also want to point out that you just have to fill out the template provided for the first assignment. I put the person I interviewed on separate docs as instruction, and I also attached the paper instruction and named the document application assignment one. Please read the attached paper for instructions, and don’t mix up the two assignments. Also, for the second assignment, you only are doing the first page. I also labeled that and attached it. Do it correctly and do as asked, please. This is. Very important assignment for me. It determines the rest of my grade, so again please follow the direction and do them correctly and answer all questions.
Thank you!
