The key rhetorical purpose of this assignment is to assess your literacy background and how it has prepared you for college research and writing. Consider the question in the self-assessment essay description: “How have literacy sponsors supported or challenged your progress as a college writer?” In the publish you are reading, is the writer providing examples of literacy experiences and sponsors and explaining how they have prepared the writer to do the kinds of writing expected in this competency set? Why or why not?
Has the writer clearly understood, drawn from, and referenced the readings assigned for this paper? The Framework for Success in Postsecondary Writing, the Framework for Information Literacy, and “Sponsors of Literacy” as well as the English 102 Learning Outcomes readings referenced in Part 1 should be an important part of the writer’s discussion. Has the writer adequately considered the ideas and arguments from those class readings?
